Why coaching versus counselling?

COUNSELLING
Therapy & Counselling Services provides assistance and guidance in resolving personal or psychological problems. Counselling tends to be coping orientated to recognise & solve issues. There are many specialist areas of counselling.

COACHING
Coaching is future focussed & action orientated. It is a life-changing experience that dramatically improves outlook professionally & personally while improving leadership skills home, work & play.

Specifically CATALYST Coaching addresses Mindset, Energy, Vitality & Resilience integrating our physical, mind & mood health.
Coaching is a journey of self-reflection & self-awareness integrated with action & self-motivation. It includes invitations for integration assignments to help embed the tools.
Coaching is non advisory, designed to propel you forward.

You will learn, unlearn and relearn, stretch yourself, grow, develop to your light within.

Is TOC is compliant with the ICF CODE of ETHICS?

N.B As part of the ICF Code of Ethics and Regulations & ICF Client Mental Health indicator we hold responsibility for working within our boundaries and details are outlined in our Client Coaching Contract.

Coach responsibilities : “your coach will be alert to a change that may impact upon the effectiveness of coaching and openly discuss this and make necessary changes, or ensure support and appropriate referral is made”

Client Responsibilities : “ agrees to use coaching for the intended purpose & not to substitute for mentoring, training or mental health care (such as counselling or therapy).

Tides of Change Transformation Coaching operates with experienced referral partners that can advocate a period of counselling or therapy (when & if  relevant)  to work in unison with coaching, or break if relevant, and come back when the time feels right. This is discussed (when & if relevant) and only progressed in agreement with our Coachees. 

How do I know coaching will work for me?

Our 60 minute Discovery Session is a complimentary, no obligation conversation. It’s an opportunity to scope out our fit for each other. I will only offer to take this to a next step if I am confident that you will benefit from our time together.

TOC connects within a Coaching Community offering differing specialist areas so that we ensure you find the right fit for you.

Are you going to fix me?

Flat NOPE! I will be your supporter, cheer leader, part champion – part tough-love Catalyst Coach that will hold space for you & “meet” you where you are on the day. During the process you get to know that you don’t need fixing. I will help you to access your innate wisdom that you are already enough – read that again – you are already enough.

Will I get emotional?

When we shine light in areas that we conceal. At times things can get emotional & intense. It takes courage to face struggles, challenges and to do the inner work.  This is life changing work that creates freedom helping you to remove blocks & discover new shores. 

We ‘do’ whatever comes up.  The emotional spectrum is welcome to move through anger, frustration & fear. Crying isn’t compulsory. Being authentic, honest & real gets us moving forward faster. 

The self-awareness of any triggers opens the menu of options available to deal with them in an appropriate way. We hold a safe container without judgement or consequence.  

Can we meet in person?

A majority of our Coaching work is on Zoom, Google Hang outs, other video conferencing which presents us with opportunity for a global client base.
We currently work across time zones with NZ, UK, AUSTRALIA, USA & KL.

If you would like to meet in person – please just get in touch.
We are based in Auckland and spend 6 weeks each year in UK & where travel permits will visit other countries.
We won’t know what becomes possible until we know!
